State Association Directory

Higher Education – and higher education policy – has changed significantly over time.  The sector is governed by what is called “The Triad.” It consists of:

     - State Licensing to govern consumer protection
     -
Accreditation to govern academic quality
     -
Federal Policy determining the institutions qualifications to participate in Federal Financial Aid.

It is in this complex, but often coordinated, environment that a national association can and should work closely with its state association colleagues.

But our partnership goes beyond public policy. Over time, state associations have assumed more and more leadership for professional development programs – especially for a school’s operating staff. On the other hand, CECU seeks to provide sector leadership programming.

Both the state associations and CECU host annual convenings of the sector, and we attend each other’s events.

In many ways, we cooperate because that is the only way to best serve our students, our schools and their staffs. Together, our sector is stronger.

Alliance for Career Education in the States (ACES)

The Alliance for Career Education in the States (ACES) is a national network of schools interested in supporting private career education through the work of state-focused trade associations. Members include schools and allied supporters that believe in the value of opportunity, quality, and equity in higher education. Learn more on the ACES website.
