Higher Education Leaders and Innovators to Attend the 2014 APSCU Convention: The Education Evolution

6/16/2014

Washington, D.C., June 16, 2014 – Leaders from across higher education will convene at the Association of Private Sector Colleges and Universities (APSCU) Annual Convention and Exposition in Las Vegas, Nevada on June 16-18, 2014. “The Education Evolution” Convention will emphasize private sector collaboration and innovation.
“This year’s APSCU Convention has been designed to emulate what many private sector institutions are known for—an accelerated, career-focused education. We’ve created five educational tracks that host sessions focused on the issues our institutions face today with extra emphasis on innovation and collaboration,” said APSCU President and CEO Steve Gunderson. “The APSCU Convention’s education tracks will provide our institutions with a platform for dialogue on the latest trends in postsecondary education. I look forward to participating in these important conversations with our institutions’ leaders, educators and innovators.”

Four general sessions will feature five keynote speakers:
  • Bob Kerrey, former U.S. Senator of Nebraska, “Innovation in Education”
  • Charlie Cook, political analyst, “A Political Outlook from Charlie Cook”
  • Dr. Marci Rossell, former CNBC Chief Economist and Co-host of Squawk Box, “The Value of Innovation in Higher Education”
  • Leslie Sanchez, political strategist and former White House Executive Director, “The Value of Innovation in Higher Education”
  • Jeb Bush, former Governor of Florida, “Leading in a Climate of Change”
In advance of the 70th Anniversary of the original GI Bill®, APSCU released a white paper by Michael Dakduk, vice president of military and veterans affairs, “Defining Military-Friendly and Veteran-Friendly for Higher Education: Clarifying Ill-Defined Terms,” at the APSCU Convention. The paper, published in partnership with Pearson, proposes a framework for institutions that promotes transparency, compliance and support for student veterans, student servicemembers and their families.
