CECU Statement on ITT Tech

9/6/2016

Commenting on ITT Tech's announcement that it will discontinue academic operations permanently, CECU president and CEO Steve Gunderson said:
"None of this was necessary. The U.S. Department of Education could have created a process that ensured students currently pursuing their higher education were protected. Instead, we will likely have 43,000 students without access to higher education - many with debt, but no degree.

"While ITT Tech is not a member of our organization, we are advocates for career education and the students that wish to pursue it. Today's development does not benefit anyone. We hope the Department will find a way to help the students most directly impacted by this to continue their education. But more importantly, we hope they will cease their repeated efforts to eliminate private sector higher education as an option in this country."
