Pima Medical Institute Dental Hygiene student Mackenzie Miller was recently awarded the prestigious Platinum Educational Group scholarship. The scholarship was originally created for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) students, and in 2016, Platinum Group expanded its program to include the nursing and allied health fields as well.

FY 2016 Official Cohort Default Rates Distributed September 23, 2019 – Federal Student Aid
On September 23, 2019, the Department of Education (the Department) distributed the FY 2016 official cohort default rate (CDR) notification packages to all eligible domestic and foreign schools only. The rates will be publicly released on September 25, 2019. In this announcement, we provide information about our distribution of the official rates and the begin dates for appealing the official rates.

Student Assistance General Provisions, Federal Family Education Loan Program, and William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program – U.S. Department of Education
The Department of Education (Department or We) establishes new Institutional Accountability regulations governing the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan (Direct Loan) Program to revise a Federal standard and a process for adjudicating borrower defenses to repayment claims for Federal student loans first disbursed on or after July 1, 2020, and provide for actions the Secretary may take to collect from schools the amount of financial loss due to successful borrower defense to repayment loan discharges.

On September 10, 2019, CECU hosted a webinar providing an initial overview of the U.S. Department of Education’s new Institutional Accountability (Borrower Defense) rule. The webinar is now available on demand in the Member Resource Center.

These regulations are effective July 1, 2020. The incorporation by reference of certain publications listed in these regulations is approved by the Director of the Federal Register as of July 1, 2020.

Instagram Leads for Student Recruitment Outreach – Campus Technology
Between 2017 and 2019 the use of Instagram among college-going students rose by 10 percentage points, with 82.5 percent of students in a recent survey now saying they use the platform. Interactions included liking posts, following various college accounts and watching videos.
