CECU Applauds the Department of Veterans Affairs Standing up for Veterans

3/12/2020

Career Education Colleges and Universities (CECU) praised the US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Benefits Administration for their recent decision to suspend approval of new enrollments for the education and training of Veterans at five universities following alleged abuses by those institutions.
“With this fair and balanced decision, the VA has affirmed its commitment to Veterans and reminded all involved in higher education, including public and non-profit institutions, that we owe Veterans and not the other way round,” said Steve Gonzalez, a US Marine Corps Veteran and Senior Vice President of Government Relations at CECU. “This action by the VA is the right one; it is essential that we protect Veterans and their earned GI Bill benefits. Two of the five schools cited by the VA are non-profit colleges further proving what we need common outcome metrics for all programs at all schools.”

CECU has a proud record of supporting student Veterans and will continue to do so. Career education colleges serve thousands of Veterans by providing them with the skills and training they need to transition from the armed services to civilian life.
