PAC
The CECU PAC is the federally registered, non-partisan political action committee of CECU. The PAC allows eligible CECU member employees to pool personal, voluntary financial contributions to support candidates seeking elective office at the Federal level.
Why does CECU have a PAC? The CECU PAC allows employees of CECU member organizations to pool voluntary contributions to help elect candidates who support a legislative and regulatory climate favorable to post-secondary education. **Note: Corporate Firm members of CECU may grant prior approval to only one national trade association PAC per calendar year. However, granting prior approval for the CECU PAC does not preclude employees of the Firm from contributing to local or state PACs, national member and ideological PACs (i.e. National Rifle Association or Emily’s List), or the Firm’s own federal PAC. Eligible employees include those with executive, managerial or senior administrative responsibilities. |
Who may participate in the CECU PAC?The Federal Election Commission has determined that a trade association may solicit only the restricted class of member institutions and allied member companies, i.e. their executive and administrative personnel, for contributions to the PAC. However, before the PAC may solicit, CECU must obtain written authorization (a signed Prior Approval Form) from the member institution’s principal CECU member. Please contact Deepti Taneja who will assist you in obtaining a Prior Approval Form.

Who decides where the PAC money goes? The PAC is governed by a diverse PAC Committee. PAC contributions are determined by a collaborative effort involving the CECU government relations team and the PAC committee.
|
What percentage of my contribution actually goes toward candidates?100% of your PAC contribution goes to support Federal candidates for office. Federal law permits associations like ours to establish and support political action committees. CECU pays PAC administrative and operating costs.
