December 11, 2017 – Arlington, Va. – Steve Gunderson, President and CEO of Career Education Colleges and Universities (CECU), issued a statement in advance of today’s markup of H.R. 4508, the Promoting Real Opportunity, Success, and Prosperity through Education Reform (PROSPER) Act, by the House Education and Workforce Committee. “It is heartening to see such a strong start to the reauthorization of the Higher Education Act in the House of Representatives. We thank Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) for her leadership in holding a markup on H.R. 4508, and we share the committee’s enthusiasm about advancing federal reforms that directly connect the Higher Education Act with jobs and career training while establishing one set of rules for all schools. We are optimistic that moving forward, both chambers of Congress will focus on the important work of updating higher education policies in ways that produce future skilled workers, which will enhance U.S. competitiveness, and ultimately, our nation’s economy.”
