According to the Executive Director, Education Service Veterans Benefits Administration, Department of Veteran Affairs, if such proposals were to become law, VA has identified 133 schools that would be potentially affected with approximately 60,000 student veterans impacted.

Reps. Donna Shalala (FL-27), Ayanna Pressley (MA-7), and Rashida Tlaib (MI-13) introduced the Protecting Student Aid Act of 2019 (PSA Act), legislation designed to reinvigorate the Student Aid Enforcement Unit within the U.S. Department of Education in order to allow the Department to better respond to fraud and abuse within federal student aid programs.

Education Department Admits it Violated Judge’s Order on Corinthian Borrowers – Politico
The department plans to refund some student loan payments made by thousands of former Corinthian Colleges students after the agency violated a federal judge’s order to stop collecting on the debt amid an ongoing class action lawsuit.
 
ED to Forgive Debt, Refund Students From Closed Schools for Erroneous Loan Collections – NASFAA
The Department of Education (ED) last week announced that it would forgive the student loan debt of thousands of borrowers who were enrolled in now-defunct ITT Educational Services, Inc. (ITT) schools, as well as refund former Corinthian Colleges students for loan payments that it erroneously collected despite a court order prohibiting it from doing so.
