Career Education Addresses Shortage of Skills in Business Operations & Enterprise Efficiency

1/6/2017

January 6, 2017 - Washington, DC - This month the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that 7.5 million Americans are unemployed, while at the same time 5.5 million jobs remain unfilled in America. This gap in labor exists because employers demand "job-ready" employees and millions of prospective employees are simply not able to bridge the skills gap without appropriate career education and training.
As we enter 2017 with our own respective new year’s resolutions, the incoming Administration of President-elect Trump has set its own goals for the future of our economy: a refocus on our country’s business acumen and commitment to private enterprise. And in order to run a successful business, America will need outstanding leaders in management and operations to ensure commercial success at all levels.

General business administration and management in America is expected to expand rapidly under this new administration and there will be demand for the skilled laborers that are up for these new opportunities. From major corporations to small businesses, every operation needs capable administrators in order to succeed. Focused on the management and operational skills that are integral to running a successful business, a business administration background can apply to almost any industry within the business world such as international business, information technology (IT), production and facilities management, or operations management.

Career Education Colleges and Universities (CECU)’s Campaign to Create 5 Million Career Professionals connects the academic programs of postsecondary institutions in the sector to related occupations, giving individuals a pathway to professional growth and development. Within the past 5 years, the sector has graduated over 325,466 students in the field of business management, and its business programs are projected to grow by 36% and produce an additional 663,759 new graduates over the next decade.

As new technologies such as cloud computing and IT continue to evolve, records and information management from these administrators will be essential in helping organizations address the impact of new technology on the organization’s records and information management practices.

“Whether it’s establishing organizational policies and procedures, applying new technologies for better operational efficiency, or analyzing financial statements and performance metrics, this industry’s relevance and versatility make it the perfect starting point for any aspiring individual that dreams of progressing through the management ranks of entry level manager, to middle management, and then onto an executive level management position,” said David Vice, CEO of Asher College.

“As more and more small businesses begin to emerge and companies continue to expand their products and services, the demand of having multi-faceted managers will surge,” said Steve Gunderson, president and CEO of CECU. “Our institutions are hardwired to ensure that our business-focused students get the complete package on the nuances of business management and are qualified to run a company in the most efficient ways possible.”

About Shortage of Skills
Each month CECU will profile America’s “Shortage of Skills” (SOS) in one key industry. We will examine industries that are critical to America’s economic advancement and explain how a well-educated and well-trained workforce can address these issues.
