Students Attending Career Education Colleges and Universities Members Graduate at a 59% Rate7/29/2019
Career Education Colleges and Universities announced today that its member institutions have achieved a 59% graduation rate! In making the announcement, CECU’s president Steve Gunderson shared that over 500 campuses produced over 52,346 graduations in 2018. “Outcomes matter,” he said. “When Members of Congress referenced a GAO Report stating that our sector had only a 22% graduation rate, I knew they were wrong. We verified our member school’s graduation rates with U.S. Department of Education data.”
Today, U.S. Air Force veteran and CECU board member Tim McMahon testified before the House Committee on Veterans Affairs Subcommittee on Economic Opportunity on pending legislation impacting veterans.
In written testimony, Mr. McMahon said the following on a draft bill changing the 90/10 rule, "As a veteran that takes great joy in supporting other veterans at Triangle Tech, I don’t want to see veterans denied the opportunity to enroll at career schools. Please consider the drastic impact of changing 90/10 before advancing this bill." Read Mr. McMahon's full testimony here. Recently, we have been discussing with our student veterans and alumni veterans why they chose to attend our career schools versus some other type of school in the community, and asked them what they think about proposals in Congress to limit access for veterans.
