Mitchell Fuerst, a second-generation college administrator, is currently the President of Success Education Colleges (SEC), which is the parent organization he created to hold the Colleges’ three brands (North-West College, Glendale Career College and Nevada Career Institute); a system of allied health colleges based in the Southern California and Las Vegas areas. Currently, SEC has ten campuses in two states. His Mother, Marsha Fuerst, founded the Colleges in 1966.
As President, he is responsible for leading some 700 Team Members, overseeing all strategic aspects of the organization, while evaluating organizational conditions, recommending policy changes and guiding the development of the overall leadership structure and strategic plan, as well as creating initiatives and plans for quality and financial management of the organization.
Mr. Fuerst received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from California Polytechnic University, Pomona and has a varied background in business. He joined the College as Vice President in 1994 and over the past 27 years has been instrumental in the growth and development of the Colleges’ educational programs, as well as Student and Team Member populations. He became the Colleges’ President in the fall of 2010.
In addition to his responsibilities as President, Mr. Fuerst currently serves on the Board of Governors for Adventist Health. He has served as an Advisory Committee Member for the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE). In addition, he is a former board member of the California Association of Private, Postsecondary Schools (CAPPS) and has served as Association President, Vice President, and Treasurer. He has served the community in many capacities, including acting as co-chairman for the Independent Coalition of Private Educators Political Action Committee (ICEPAC), and as a board member for the Distinguished Alumni Council at California Polytechnic University, in addition to his role in the Fuerst Family Foundation. Mr. Fuerst has also taken his expertise into the classroom, serving as adjunct faculty for Chaffey Community College.
He has lectured extensively on various subjects for the California Association of Private, Postsecondary Schools (CAPPS), the Career Education Colleges and Universities (CECU) Association, California Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (CAASFA) and EdFund.
Mr. Fuerst is also a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO).
