Duncan Anderson is the founder and current President and Chief Executive Officer of Education Affiliates, a privately held, post-secondary education school group currently comprised of over 42 ground campuses operating in 17 states. Over 75% of Education Affiliates graduates enter the health care industry as nurses, medical technologists, dental hygienists and other crucial positions in scarce supply.
Since founding Education Affiliates in 2003, Mr. Anderson has grown the company to over 3,000 employees, with the help of financing from JLL Partners, a private equity firm located in New York City. Prior to 2003, Mr. Anderson was President and Chief Executive Officer of Global Knowledge Network, a privately held, corporate IT Training company which operated in 16 countries and employed over 1,800 employees. Beginning in 1995 Mr. Anderson grew Global Knowledge into the third largest Corporate IT training company in the world, ranked behind IBM and SAP. Prior to his appointment as CEO of Global Knowledge, Mr. Anderson held various senior management positions at Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) from 1978 to 1995, during the time when DEC grew to become the number two computer company in the world behind IBM.
Mr. Anderson was recently recognized in 2012 as one of 20 national finalists from a national pool of over 10,000 contestants for the prestigious “EY Entrepreneur of the Year” Award given annually by the Ernst and Young accounting firm. This award selects the best and brightest entrepreneurs across a broad range of diverse industries nationwide. The final winner was the founder of Chobani Yogurt.
Mr. Anderson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and an MBA from Northeastern University in Boston Massachusetts. He currently lives in Baltimore with his wife and two daughters, where Education Affiliates is headquartered. Locally, EA operates four schools in the state of Maryland under the All State Career and Fortis brands. According to the Baltimore business journal Education Affiliates is one of the ten largest private companies in the Baltimore area.
