Shannon McKain
Website

For more than a decade, workplace culture expert, Shannon McKain, has motivated audiences to make changes for the better in their professional and personal lives. A gifted speaker, McKain’s authenticity and her ability to intimately connect with an auditorium filled with employees and executives aren’t performance art — she’s the real deal. Before traveling the country to influence others, McKain was in her audience’s shoes, working in the corporate world where she saw, and even experienced herself, how The Great Divide impacted growth and success among her peers. Calling on that past, she openly shares personal stories and her own encounters with culture issues in ways that not only build trust and empathy with her audience, they result in dramatic mindset shifts that help drive dynamic transformations within an organization. Those fortunate enough to experience a Shannon McKain presentation gain a wealth of skills to respect individual differences and use them to build a stronger company culture that promotes retention, fulfillment and shared success goals. This is what it takes to bridge The Great Divide. This is her mission.

Breakout Session & Roundtable Discussion FAQs

What is the difference between Breakout Sessions and Roundtable Discussions?
Breakout sessions along with keynote sessions create the core content and foundation of the Career Education Convention. Breakout sessions are formal, 1-hour sessions proposed and presented by experts in the career education sector. Roundtable discussions are 30-minute sessions intended to supplement the content of breakout and keynote sessions, while providing an informal discussion environment to connect with other attendees on hot topics in higher education. Both proposal forms will be open from March 1 – 31, 2023. Please note, there are separate forms for the Breakout Session and Roundtable Discussions.

Who should submit a proposal?
Thought leaders across career education are encouraged to propose sessions for the Convention. Please note that you must be a CECU/NACC member prior to the event to be eligible to have your session accepted.

Can I submit a proposal for a breakout session and roundtable discussion?
Yes, you are welcome to submit interest for both.

For more information and FAQs, please review the guidelines linked in the grey buttons above.

Give Back

Operation Breakthrough

Picture
This year, The North American Career Education Convention has chosen Operation Breakthrough as our local community partner.

Operation Breakthrough surrounds 700 of Kansas City's most vulnerable children and their families with opportunities – to learn, connect, be nurtured and prepare for success. The program runs cradle to career, helping little children become school-ready, helping school-agers stay on track and offering teens real-world experiences in digital electronics, graphic design and more. The average OB family lives on about $1,000 a month, so OB adds on-site health care, therapy, parenting classes and financial literacy. We empower people to breakthrough to a bright future!

Attendees will have the chance to participate in on site activities integrated within the Convention program, sponsored by Elsevier.

All donations from the CECU and NACC communities can be collected through the online portal prior to the event, or onsite. As a part of the North American Alliance, CECU and NACC will match the total number of collections made prior to the Convention
