![]() After working as a Registered Nurse for 10 years and buying hundreds of cookbooks, Christina Roman decided it was the right time to pursue her passion for food. Being a single mom with a full-time job, she enrolled in the Escoffier Online Culinary Arts Fundamentals program because it fit her busy schedule and lifestyle. “The program enabled me to learn the foundation of professional cooking and instilled essential skills needed to make it in the industry. Doing my externship opened my eyes to the dedication and hard work that goes on behind the scenes in a restaurant,” Christina said. Christina also worked as a Culinary Writer for Farmbox Living, a premiere health and lifestyle publication created by Ashley Tyrner, the founder and CEO of Farmbox Direct. Christina pursued a food writing externship because she wanted to do food writing after graduation and share Ashley’s passion for making healthy foods more accessible to everyone.
During her externship, she created recipes, utilized her knowledge of food to write articles about diet trends and cuisines, and conducted recipe testing and research on the power of foods. Some of her articles were featured on farmboxliving.com. “I learned what it takes to build a website and had the opportunity to write articles that related to different types of foods and how they can heal and nourish the body,” Christina said. After graduating in 2018, Christina said she has been cooking up a storm. “The quality and flavors of my food has improved, and I feel way more organized in the kitchen,” Christina said. She is working on testing and creating recipes for a professional food website that she plans to launch in the future and would love to eventually write her own cookbook. Comments are closed.
