Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Title I of the Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) require that no otherwise qualified person with a disability shall be denied a benefit or opportunity (employment or education) or be excluded from participation solely on the basis of that disability. If a student or employee with a disability is otherwise qualified, an education institution may be required to make a reasonable accommodation for that disability. Whether an accommodation is reasonable depends on the full circumstances, and not simply on whether the accommodation would cost more than, for example, a student's tuition. The following websites provide guidance for education institutions.
