This article describes the types of industries and occupations that use "big data." Industries include business, government, health care, science, and finance. Occupations include software developers and analysts. A chart on page 30 shows the employment and mean wages for 15 newly defined occupations. Atop the list in terms of employment are computer network support specialists, followed by computer network architects. At the top of annual mean wages are nurse anesthetists.
PSCUs open doors to many of the 9.1 million unemployed and 90 million undereducated Americans by providing a skills-based education. To remain competitive over the next decade, we must identify between 8 and 23 million new workers with postsecondary skills. PSCUs are a necessary part of that solution, having produced over 800,000 degrees last year alone.
