AMCA creates and distributes certification exams to the allied healthcare industry through approved schools and organizations. Certification by definition means, "to attest as being true or as represented as meeting a standard." The National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) is an independent certification organization that has tested more than 380,000 candidates since 1989. Its medical assistant and phlebotomist certification programs hold accreditation by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies. NCCT also certifies surgical technologists, patient care technicians, medical office assistants, insurance biller and coders, ECG technicians and postsecondary instructors through a variety of academic and experiential paths of qualification.
