Federal Student
Assistance (FSA)
The Office of Federal Student Assistance administers the federal
student aid programs. This is a source of information on
regulations, Dear Colleague letters, electronic announcements, and other
information relating to administration of the programs.
Do Not
Call/CAN SPAM
Entities that market through use of the telephone, either directly
or through a contractor, must follow the rules of the FTC and FCC.
Fair Labor Standards Act
The new regulations of the Labor Department on wages and salaries may

Foreign
Students
Institutions that enroll foreign students must comply with rules of
the Immigration and Naturalization Service of the Department of Homeland
Security.
Gramm-Leach-Bliley (GLB)
The GLB Act requires companies to protect the privacy and integrity
of non-public data.
Veteran
Affairs (VA)
Institutions who enroll students using Veterans’ benefits have
a number of administrative and regulatory responsibilities.
Integrated
Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS)
All institutions that participate in the federal student assistance
programs must complete all IPEDS surveys in a timely manner. There
are three annual IPEDS collections.
Loan
Programs
The federal student loan programs include FFEL and Direct Loans,
Stafford Loans, PLUS loans, and Perkins Loans.
Disability
Issues
Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with
Disabilities Act provide qualified handicapped students and employees
with a right to reasonable accommodation.
