Are you interested in being a speaker?

Speaking

You are invited to get involved!  Let us know if you would like to be considered for a speaking opportunity at an APSCU event or webinar.  We are always looking for avenues that provide opportunities for our members to share their expertise. Please take a moment and let us know what your area of interest is by providing an overview of your proposed educational session or webinar topic.

Webinars

Plans are currently underway to build upon the success of the 2010-2011 series of APSCU Professional Development Webinars and we are looking for presenters with innovative topic ideas.  The APSCU professional development committee is now accepting proposals for webinars focusing chiefly on retention, placement, and faculty development as well as any “hot topics” with relevant value to our school members.

Some of our most popular webinars from the 2010-2011 series included:

• From the Ground Up: Building a Modern Library Solution, Jennifer Campbell, Library Director for Community Care College
• Connection Points for Student Retention: Faculty Development and Student Services Working Together, Ruth Reynard, Executive Director of Academic Programs and Faculty, and Ashley McMillion, Executive Director of Student Services, at Daymar Colleges Group
• Responding to Situations that Involve Extreme or Frightening Student Behaviors, Dr. Terri Leap, Campus President, Brown-Mackie College – St. Louis; Mr. Stanley A. Freeman, JD, Attorney, Powers, Pyles, Sutter & Verville; and Dr. Carla Monroe-Posey, LCSW, Senior Vice President, Student Resource Services
• How to Build an Internal Controls Audit System, Jeffrey R. Cooper, Senior Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer, ITT Educational Services, Inc., Nancy Broff, Counsel, Dickstein Shapiro, LLP, and William Clohan, Senior Advisor to APSCU
• Instructional Strategies to Help Distance Learning Students Persist, Tina Stavredes, Ph.D., faculty member and former Director of Curriculum Development at Capella University
• Beyond Clinical Partnerships – Strategies for Developing Alternative Clinical Opportunities, Rebecca A. Jones, National Director of Nursing at Career Education Corporation, and Mikhail Shneyder, Vice President of Allied Health Programs at Heald College
• Development of a Comprehensive Student Learning Assessment Model, Dr. Carmen Zoraida Claudio, President of National University College in Bayamon, Puerto Rico

Prospective presenters should be mindful that webinar topics will need to be covered in one hour, including time for Q&A. All webinars will continue to be FREE to APSCU members. Legislative update and compliance webinars will continue to be covered by the APSCU Government Relations Department on an “as-needed” basis. Professional Development Webinars will be offered approximately once every month.

If you would like to submit a webinar proposal for consideration, please email a short descriptive paragraph along with the PowerPoint slides, if available, with full contact information, to APSCU Program Manager, Monty Cox, at monty.cox@apscu.org.

Convention Breakout Sessions

Breakout session proposal forms will be accepted beginning in November, 2011 for the 2012 APSCU Annual Convention. More information about the 2012 APSCU Convention will be posted as it becomes available. If you have questions, or need additional information, please contact APSCU Program Manager Monty Cox at monty.cox@apscu.org.
