APSCU Board of Directors
Dr. Sabrina Kay
Fremont College
Cerritos, CA
I grew
up in the career college industry. From my first job as an admissions
representative, to the past 20 years of being a school founder, owner,
operator, shareholder, and board member of several institutions, I have
always been extremely passionate about how our sector inspires and
transforms students’ lives. It pains me to see how legislators and
consumer advocate groups take opportunities away from the students we
serve for the wrong reasons - sometimes for political gain, other times,
due to inaccurate perceptions.
To counteract these challenges, I have expanded my horizons and took
on various leadership positions within and outside of our sector. I
became a vocal advocate to political, civic, and business communities,
and an active participant in both APSCU and state career college
associations. My contribution has been to bring diverse and fair views
to those who affect our lives by serving in leadership roles and being
an educated connector to legislators, media, as well as other sectors of
higher education such as the corporate university community and Ivy
League institutions.
