Becky Campoverde
is Vice President for Government Relations for Kaplan, Inc., a leading
provider of educational and career services to students, schools,
professionals and businesses. She is based in Washington, D.C.,
and oversees federal and state relations..
Prior to joining Kaplan, Ms. Campoverde served as Assistant Secretary
for Congressional and Legislative Affairs at the U.S. Department of
Education, where she led the Department’s efforts for
Congressional approval of the No Child Left Behind law.
Ms. Campoverde’s previous government experience
includes service as Deputy Staff Director for the Committee on Education
and the Workforce of the U.S. House of Representatives. She also
served in other capacities at the Department of Education in previous
administrations, including Deputy Chief of Staff to the Secretary.
In addition, she has worked as a private sector government relations
consultant on projects ranging from the North America Free Trade
Agreement to drinking water issues.
Ms. Campoverde is a graduate of Northwestern University in Evanston, IL,
where she also pursued graduate studies. She is a native of
Ecuador and a naturalized U.S. citizen. Her
family’s first experience with career colleges was
when her father enrolled in one shortly after arriving in the U.S.
