A CCA board member since 2002, Jon has chaired CCA's State Affairs,
Professional Development and Awards committees and served as a member of
CCA’s Allied Members, Convention, Awards, Litigation
Oversight and Investment committees, as well as the Small College
Advisory Council and Legislative Action Network. Jon was also a
member of CCA’s Accountability Task Force and Small
College Advisory board, a trustee of the Career College Foundation and a
presenter at the CCA Leadership Institute. Currently, he is a team
leader for ACCSCT.
Closer to home, Jon served as president of the Michigan Association
of Career Schools for six years and was a longstanding member of the
Workforce & Education Committee of the Oakland County Business
Roundtable. He also served as a member of
Michigan’s WIA advisory group and on the advisory
boards of the Oakland Technical Center and Southfield Public
School’s Arts & Communication Academy. Jon
is past-chairman of the Southfield Area Chamber of Commerce and a former
member of the board of trustees of the Southfield Community
Foundation.
Jon holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Wayne State University in
Detroit, and a Master of Music degree from the University of Miami in
Coral Gables, Florida. He spent several years as a professional
musician, where he performed worldwide with numerous internationally
known artists and recorded many radio and TV commercials and shows. He
is also the author of four published music instruction books. A graduate
of the Specs Howard School, Jon has worked as a Broadcast Coordinator at
WWJ Radio in Detroit and as an Announcer at WIQB Radio in Ann Arbor.
Jon is an active member of the Detroit Economic Club, Adcraft Club of
Detroit, Michigan Association of Broadcasters and American Federation of
Musicians.
In 1999, Jon was cited by Crain's Detroit Business as one of Detroit's
"40 Under 40" rising young business people.
