CCA Appoints Brian Moran as Executive Vice President of Government
Relations
Washington, DC – The Career College Association (CCA) today
announced Brian Moran has joined the organization as the new Executive
Vice President for Government Affairs. Moran, a thirteen-year member of
the Virginia House of Delegates, also served eight years as Chairman of
the House Democratic Caucus.
“Brian is an intelligent and thoughtful leader and a tremendous
addition to the CCA team. He brings two decades of successful legal,
business and political experience. Utilizing his business acumen,
interpersonal and communication skills as well as a thirteen-year
legislative career, he will be a tremendous asset to the Association and
career higher education sector,” said CCA President and CEO Harris
N. Miller.
In June of 2009, Moran resigned to run for the Democratic nomination for
Governor of Virginia where he lost a closely fought primary. During his
gubernatorial campaign and as a member of the Virginia General Assembly,
he was a strong advocate for the relationship between education and
economic security. Moran also has an impressive record of successful,
bipartisan legislation that improved the lives of the citizens of
Virginia. As Chairman of the House of Delegates Democratic Caucus,
he worked closely with two Governors, Mark Warner and Tim Kaine, to
develop the legislative strategy to enact key legislative
priorities.
During his time in the Virginia House of Delegates, Moran also ran a
12-person practicing law practice in Northern Virginia. For his various
efforts in advocacy and outreach, Moran has been recognized by the
Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce, the Northern Virginia Technology
Council, Sheriffs’ Association, Mothers Against Drunk Driving,
League of Conservation Voters, and the Parent Teachers Association.
Moran has a BA from Framingham State College, and a J.D. from Catholic
University School of Law. During law school, Moran worked
for the Economic Stabilization Subcommittee on Capitol Hill. After
graduation, he clerked for four Arlington County, Virginia circuit court
judges, which involved drafting legal opinions. As an Assistant
County Prosecutor in Arlington, he tried 68 jury trials over an
eight-year period. He also served as a visiting instructor at The
National College of District Attorneys.
“As a leading voice for the higher education sector before policy
makers in Washington, DC and across the country as the new head of
CCA’s government relations program, Brian will deliver the
critical message about the value contribution of career higher education
with the passion and eloquence he has brought to his many years of
public service. We couldn’t be more excited to have him on board
as our organization and sector continues to grow and develop,”
said Miller.
