Louis Caldera has been a director of Career Education Corporation (“CEC”) since March 2013, and serves on the board’s audit and compliance committees. Career Education Corporation (www.careered.com) offers high-quality doctoral, master’s, bachelor’s and associate degrees and diploma and certificate programs to a diverse student population across the world in a variety of career-oriented disciplines through online, on-ground and hybrid learning programs offered through schools, colleges and universities that include American InterContinental University; Brooks Institute; Colorado Technical University; INSEEC Group Schools; International Academy of Design & Technology; Le Cordon Bleu North America; and Sanford-Brown Institutes and Colleges.
Mr. Caldera has an extensive background in law, business, and public policy, including national security affairs and higher education administration. He is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy and holds law and business degrees from Harvard University. Mr. Caldera served as a vice chancellor for the California State University from 2001 to 2003 and as president of the University of New Mexico from 2003 to 2006, where he also served on the law school faculty. He served in two Senate confirmed positions in the Clinton Administration, including as Secretary of the Army and served as director of the White House Military Office in the Obama Administration. He began his career as an Army officer, and was a lawyer in private practice and for Los Angeles County before serving in the California legislature from 1992 to 1997. He has served on numerous corporate and nonprofit boards and commissions, and serves on the board of directors of A.H. Belo Corp.
