The Employer of the Year Award honors companies that consistently employ graduates of private sector colleges and universities in their fields. Outstanding employers show a long-term commitment to private sector schools and their graduates by employing graduate, offering internships and externships, and developing unique relationships with the schools and students.
2012 National Winner: HCA HealthCare Eastern Division
Since January 2011, HCA Healthcare has hired 120 graduates of Keiser University to work in the more than 70 HCA health-care sites in Florida. Additionally, HCA Healthcare and Keiser work together so that Keiser graduates can obtain their clinical externship experience at HCA Healthcare sites.
“This partnership between HCA Healthcare and Keiser University is a clear example of how private sector schools and employers work together to ensure that graduates are able to compete in the 21st century workforce. It also exemplifies how career-oriented schools provide employers with highly skilled workers,” said Steve Gunderson, APSCU president and CEO. “We are pleased to honor HCA Healthcare with APSCU’s inaugural National Employer of the Year Award.”
Regional Winner: Wright Automotive Group
Wright Automotive Group was selected for this award in recognition of its longstanding relationship with Rosedale Technical Institute. Over the last three years, Wright Automotive Group has hired 32 Rosedale Tech graduates in its 11 Western Pennsylvania dealerships.
“We prefer hiring Rosedale Technical Institute graduates because of the high level of education they receive. The curriculum matches what we require at Wright Automotive Group,” said Matt Miller, Wright Automotive Group. “Additionally, Rosedale Tech continues to be a leader in technology and equipment. They are a state-of-the-art facility and ensure that each student has the opportunity to be well trained, dedicated, and committed in the automotive field.”
Wright Automotive Group is actively involved with Rosedale Technical Institute’s career fairs, and Wright employees serve as mentors to Rosedale students.

PSCUs open doors to many of the 13 million unemployed and 90 million undereducated Americans by providing a skills-based education. To remain competitive over the next decade, we must identify between 8 and 23 million new workers with postsecondary skills.PSCUs are a necessary part of that solution, having produced over 800,000 degrees last year alone.
