2012 Employer of the Year

This award seeks to honor those companies that consistently employ graduates of private sector colleges and universities in their fields. Outstanding employers show a proven long term commitment to private sector schools and their graduates through employment, internships and externships, and developing unique relationships with the schools and students themselves.

National Winner - HCA HealthCare Eastern Division

Since January 2011, HCA Healthcare has hired 120 graduates of Keiser University, who are working in HCA’s 70 plus healthcare sites in Florida.  Additionally, HCA Healthcare and Keiser University work together so that graduates of Keiser University are able to obtain their clinical externship experience at HCA Healthcare sites.
“This partnership between HCA Healthcare and Keiser University is a clear example of how private sector schools and employers work together to ensure that graduates are able to compete in the 21st Century workforce and how career-oriented schools provide employers with highly-skilled workers,” said Steve Gunderson, president and chief executive officer of the Association of Private Sector Colleges and Universities (APSCU).  “We are pleased to honor HCA Healthcare with APSCU’s inaugural National Employer of the Year Award.”

Regional Winner - Wright Automotive

Wright Automotive Group was selected for this award due to its long-standing relationship with Rosedale Technical Institute.  Over the last three years, Wright Automotive Group has hired 32 Rosedale Tech graduates in its 11 Western Pennsylvania dealerships.
“We prefer hiring Rosedale Technical Institute graduates because of the high level of education they receive.  The curriculum matches what we require at Wright Automotive Group,” said Matt Miller, Wright Automotive Group.  “Additionally, Rosedale Tech continues to be a leader in technology and equipment.  They are a state of the art facility and ensure that each student has the opportunity to be well trained, dedicated and committed in the automotive field.”
Wright Automotive Group is actively involved with Rosedale Technical Institute’s career fairs and Wright employees serve as mentors to Rosedale students.
“We are pleased to honor Wright Automotive Group with APSCU’s inaugural Regional Employer of the Year award,” said Steve Gunderson, president and chief executive officer of Association of Private Sector Colleges and Universities (APSCU).  “Their partnership with Rosedale Technical Institute highlights the important relationships private sector colleges and universities have with employers to ensure that students receive the skills necessary to compete in the global economy.”

PSCUs open doors to many of the 9.1 million unemployed and 90 million undereducated Americans by providing a skills-based education. To remain competitive over the next decade, we must identify between 8 and 23 million new workers with postsecondary skills.PSCUs are a necessary part of that solution, having produced over 800,000 degrees last year alone.
